German Physiognomical Head by dr. Carl Huter

Ca. 1930's

Physiognomy (Gk. physis, nature and gnomon, judge, interpreter) is a theory and a folk science based upon the idea that the study and judgement of a person's outer appearance, primarily the face, may give insights into their character or personality. The term physiognomy is also used to refer to the general appearance of a person, object, or terrain, without reference to its underlying or scientific characteristics.

A great and rare phsyco-phisiognomical head with the map proposed by dr. Carl Huter (1861 - 1912). In almost mint condition, under the pedestal is written in black ink "Weihnacht 1940", stands for "Christmas 1940" (so probably a gift ?).

Definetely one of the most decorative phrenological head ever produced.
